Ridgecrest
Nampa, Idaho – Saturday, June 2nd 2018
Clubhouse: A
Bar: B
Amenities: B+ Most amenities are available. Two clean, permanent building bathrooms are available on the course. A drink cart was not provided during this particular golf outing.
Price: $$$
The price for a weekend round of golf at Ridgecrest is palatable. You will not break the bank going here and playing one of the most well-kept courses in the valley for the amount of money you pay.
Practice Facilities: A+
A large, well-kept driving range is available for before round warm up and to get those tune-up swings in. There is also separate greens for both putting and chipping. The putting green is well maintained and provides an accurate picture of the conditions you will encounter on the course. The chipping green also includes green-side bunkers.
Staff Friendliness: A+
You are welcomed to Ridgecrest with a warm good
Carts (if riding): A
Nice electric carts. All carts were in good standing and running shape.
Tee Boxes: A-
Most tee boxes were flat, and in good shape. It was never a concern walking up to a tee box and having to find a piece of ground that wouldn’t affect your swing.
Bunkers: B
The green side bunkers were all very wet at the time of our round, making them compact and difficult to hit out of. They were however all consistently difficult to hit out of, which tells me under normal course conditions bunkers are in good standing. There are also two fairway length “bunkers” on holes 6 and 9. While these bunkers add a level of difficulty to your round, they are a bit gravely. Avoid in order to keep your club from being scratched up. Even though this is the name of the game…
Fairways: A+
Fairways were awesome. Never once had to say “I’m laying by that brown grass in the fairway”
Greens: A+
Green were in great shape. Consistently rolling smooth. Were not the most difficult to read speed and distance.
Course Conditions: A
Overall conditions great. Both the rough and fairway gave you a good chance at a decent lie and shot. Rough was cut long enough to hinder you, but not put you down for the count. Greens were rolling good, but had some divots that weren’t being repaired from previous golfers. REMEMBER! “Love Where You Golf” and fix those divots!
Difficulty: 6.5
The front nine is pretty open. You can get away with a bad shot or two and still be in play. The back isn’t quite as easy but is still a little more forgiving than most.
Ambiance: B
Ridgecrest gives you a great view of the mountains surrounding the valley. A few holes are played parallel to the I-84 freeway, taking away from some of the calm expected during a round of golf.
Overall Rating: A
Great course. Challenging, well kept, and a course you are able to score low on. You can bring out your driver, or play for par and have a great round. There is a model airplane runway on the hill above the course, which can also add an entertainment or danger value to your round (see photo). Over all, we recommend Ridgecrest for their maintained facilities, course, and great practice facilities to give you a great day of Idaho Golf.
