Boise Ranch

Boise, Idaho

Clubhouse: A

Larger clubhouse with medium amount of equipment and apparel.

Bar: A+

Good Sized restaurant and bar. Good local and regional beer choices. Restaurant has a couple big screen TVs with golf and other various sports on.

Amenities: B+

Most amenities are available. Porta potties available on the course, along with water coolers. No beverage cart (at least during this round)

Price: $$$$

Expensive course to play on the weekend, $57 with a cart on the weekend (Memorial Day). No extras with the cart.

Practice Facilities: A

Large driving range and putting green. Putting green slightly reflects the greens on the course. Chipping green is also quite nice, located on the opposite side of the putting green.

Staff Friendliness: B+

Staff is pretty friendly but not over the top.

Carts (if riding): B

Nice battery powered carts. Nothing special about them but they got the job done!

Tee Boxes: A

Most tee boxes were flat and well maintained. Sand available to replace divots or chunks.

Bunkers: B-

Sand was very wet and hard. Very difficult to dig feet in and almost have to chip it off the sand rather than hitting into the sand. A couple bunkers had 3-4 inches of standing water in there. Could be a from the storm the night before or bad irrigation, or a combination of both.

Fairways: B

Fairways were green and most divots had been fixed. Some parts of the fairway also had standing water on them and could affect the role of your ball, or wind up having your ball get stuck in the middle of the puddle (which did happen).

Greens: B-

Greens were in okay shape, would have been better if some didn’t have standing water on them. Greens rolled pretty slow for the most part (I golfed in the morning and they had been watered & rained on) but started to speed up towards the end of my round. Pretty easy to read. A few greens had some BIG slopes but were only in play if you landed on the back of the gree

Course Conditions: B

The course is typically in good condition, today could have been an abnormality. I would definitely golf there again. Hopefully next time there won’t be as much extra water on the course.

Difficulty: 6

The course is not that difficult. Can be some challenges with the many trees on the course and a couple of tricky water hazards. But if you know where they are you can navigate the course pretty easily.

AmbienceA

The course is very pretty. There are a lot of trees, birds singing, blue herons looking for fish and even the occasional turtle. There are a few homes located around the course but for the most part you have a pretty view through the entire round.

Overall Rating: B+

Great course! Like I said, we will be back. It is a fun course to get some good practice in. Most holes are pretty open, not many lost balls unless you hit it in the water or lose it in some trees. Boise Ranch does not yet carry I’D Golf gear but we will keep you posted.
